Bampton Village is located in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and has featured prominently in the popular TV drama Downton Abbey. This village is only 20 minutes from Eynsham Hall so is an ideal place to stay if you are a Downton fan or just visiting the area.
The Downton Abbey crew use buildings and landmarks in the village to create this fantastic series. Visit St Marys Church which becomes St Michaels and All Angels Church, Churchgate House which is used as the Crawley family home, The Old Grammer School building which now houses Bamptons Community Archive and is where Downton Cottage Hospital scenes were filmed. A road named Church View has also appeared regularly throughout the series and is the home to two fictional pubs The Grantham Arms and The Dog & Duck and was also the site for the Downton Fair.
